Prosthesis Maintenance

In order to ensure socket comfort, health, the longevity of your prosthesis, and to verify accuracy of fit, it is recommended that you have it checked and polished by your ocularist every six months. This appointment is usually a thirty minute appointment, and it allows the Ocularist to check the prosthesis for any changes that may have occurred in the prosthesis itself. To schedule this appointment, please contact us.

For Patients Outside of the Portland Metro Area:

If traveling to our office is difficult please call our Office Manager LaNette for shipping instructions to have your prosthesis inspected, sanitized, and polished. Please make sure to call our office first, and schedule an appointment just as you would if you were to come into the office yourself, so we can set aside the time in our schedule and update any insurance and contact information. Once we receive your prosthesis, we will inspect, sanitize, and polish the prosthesis, and ship it back to you via FedEx Ground. We will call to let you know your prosthesis is on it's way back to you. Please note that this option is ONLY for patients who have difficulty traveling to our office for their prosthesis check-ups. Should any work need to be done on the prosthesis that requires your presence in the office,
we will contact you to schedule an appointment accordingly.

This method does not replace the need to be seen by an ocularist if
your prosthesis becomes ill-fitting or is giving you any other problems.
